Mottaki: Tragic war in Gaza indicates incompetency of int'l system

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA - Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Sunday that the tragic carnage in Gaza, which took the lives of innocent civilians, put the seal of approval on the incompetency of the current international system.

According to the Information and Press Bureau of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with visiting
Kenyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade Uhuru Kenyatta.

Referring to the crimes and atrocities of the Zionist regime in Gaza,
Mottaki said that the international community should take an explicit
stance in dealing with the inhuman crimes of Zionists occupiers in Gaza.

Given the new round of cooperation between Iran and Kenya, he said
that in view of the determination of high ranking officials, the two
countries have entered into a new round of cooperation by making use
of each other capabilities.

To promote mutual cooperation, the two sides should spare no efforts
to remove existing software barriers and provide suitable grounds and
required facilities to this end, Mottaki pointed out.

To attain the goal, the two sides should approve agreement on avoiding
double taxation, expand customs cooperation, promote trade exchanges
and cooperation between organizations in the two countries, he said.

The Kenyan envoy, for his part, welcomed the expansion of all-out
relations with Iran and said Kenya, as a prominent African country,
could be regarded as a good market for Iranian products and their
re-export to African countries.

Iranian companies could play a much active role in various fields such
as energy, construction of hydro- gas turbines as well as
hydro-electric turbines, in agriculture, assembly line for tractors
and road construction in Kenya, he said.
