UN resident coordinator invited to FM for unconventional statements

Tehran, Dec. 5, IRNA – United Nations Resident Coordinator, Gary Lewis, was invited to Foreign Ministry to hear complaint about his 'unconventional and interventionist' statement. Director General of the International Affairs, Environment Protection and Sustainable Development Department of Foreign Ministry acknowledged the complaint to Mr. Lewis. The Foreign Ministry official told Mr. Lewis that the specialized agencies of the United Nations in the Islamic Republic of Iran including the UN and the UNDP should operate in the context of their specialized tasks. Mr. Lewis gave assurances that the United Nations agencies in the Islamic Republic of Iran are focused on their specialized areas of operation and that the development plans in full coordination with respective Iranian organizations. 1378/IRNA
