Britain condemns Mumbai terror attacks
Mumbai, Jan 23 (PTI) Saddened and shocked by the
Mumbai terror attacks, Britain, without naming any country,
Friday said that it would continue to mount pressure to bring
the guilty to book and was determined to assist India in
tackling terror.
"We will maintain utmost pressure to ensure that
justice takes its course and people (who are guilty) are
prosecuted," British minister for Business and Enterprise
Peter Mandelson said here.
Lord Mandelson was speaking at hotel Trident here
--one of the sites of November 26 attacks -- at a seminar on
opportunities for Indians lawyers in legal sector in UK.
He also said that during the attacks, British
government was able to share with Indian authorities valuable
intelligence "in real time" about nature of the attack and the
people behind it.
He described the attack as "cowardly and cruel".
Mandelson, along with Union Law Minister Hansraj
Bhardwaj, launched 'Setting Up In UK: A Resource Guide For
Indian Law Firms', a guide book on opportunities for Indian
lawyers in that country.
Stating that UK "continues to believe in Indian
economy," he said that the seminar and the resource book will
"demonstrate how easy it is for Indian law firms to work in
UK."
As more and more Indian companies were making
acquisitions in UK, there was more scope for Indian law firms
there, he said, adding "there are host of untapped
opportunities for Indian firms to succeed there."
