Tet celebrations in Ukraine and RoK
Hanoi (VNA) - Nostalgia drew Vietnamese expats from every corner in Ukraine to a warm get-together in Kiev on Jan. 19 to celebrate the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, which falls on Jan. 26 this year.
Representatives from local organisations and press also joined the event, initiated
by the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine in coordination with the Association of
Overseas Vietnamese in Kiev .
The participants enjoyed a two-hour music performances and a feast rich with Tet
dishes.
On the occasion of approaching Tet festival, staff from the Vietnamese Embassy in
the Republic of Korea visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese guest
workers.
The delegation led by Ambassador Pham Tien Van visited a farm in Pojeon town of
Kyungye province, where many Vietnamese female labourers are working.
Ambassador Van encourage the workers to work hard to overcome difficulties in the
context of the global crisis, which has led to high unemployment rate in the RoK
also.
He also affirmed that the embassy would coordinate with local authorities to
protect Vietnamese labourers' legitimate rights.
The same day, the delegation also visited a support centre for guest workers in
Uijeongbu region.-Enditem
