2 Hizb militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, Jan 23 (PTI) A self-styled commander of
Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and another militant was shot dead by army
troops in Doda district of the northern Indian state of Jammu
and Kashmir here Friday.

Acting on an information about the presence of some
militants in Batyas forest belt of Gandoh tehsil in Doda
district, security forces launched a cordon and search
operation today morning, defence spokesperson S N Acharya
said.

In the gunbattle that followed, two Hizb militant were
killed, Acharya said, adding that one of them is Hizb's tehsil
commander.

They have been identified as Zahoor Khanday, a self
styled tehsil commander of Hizb operating in Doda since 2006,
and Sajad Hussain, active since 2006, he said.

Two AK rifles and other ammunition was recovered from
them, Acharya said. PTI
