SNACC, UNDP discuss supporting media transparency

SANA'A, Jan. 21 (Saba)- The Supreme National Anti-Corruption
Commission (SNACC) and the United Nation Development Program
discussed on Wednesday means of carrying out the project of
supporting transparency and Civil Society Organizations or CSOs.

In the meeting, SNACC's Head of Media and Awareness Sector Yaseen
Abdu Saeed Saeed affirmed importance of the project, being carried
out by the commission in cooperation with the program, in building
capabilities and strengthen ties between the commission and SCOs and
promoting journalists' qualifications in field of inspecting
corruption issues.

He asserted necessity of integrating all state and public efforts
for realizing national partnership for fighting corruption, holding
corrupt officials accountable and creating national and popular
culture for criminalizing corruption and fighting it.

The project aims at realizing two prime topics, building and
documenting ties and promoting performance of journalists on
national level for encouraging information exchange for ensuring
participation expansion and encouraging freedom for discussing
issues related to corruption.

While the second topic focuses on techniques of surveillance public
revenues and increasing awareness level among non-governmental
organization on the notion of getting information for enabling them
create strategies for supporting the right of getting the correct
information.

The project is due to organize next Saturday a training course to 30
journalists and media people for promoting their qualifications in
inspecting issues fighting corruption.
