Nine Killed In Bali's Bridge Collapse

JAKARTA, Oct 17 (Antara) - Nine people died as a result of the collapse of a bridge which connects Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, Klungkung, Bali, on Sunday evening, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo said. "A total of nine victims died and 18 others were injured," Sutopo told Antara here on Sunday. He revealed that the authorities temporarily suspended the evacuation at that location because they have not yet received reports on the loss of family members. Previously the BNPB reported that the bridge connecting the island of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan collapsed on Sunday, at 6pm local time. After the evacuation, seven dead victims were found and later at 8:21 pm, two other were found dead. A number of motorcycle riders fell and plunged into the water. A total 18 people were injured during the incident.
