Belgium supports establishment of friendship group with Iranian MPs

Berlin, Jan 21, IRNA - Head of the Belgian Parliament Patrick Dewael on Tuesday welcomed
plans for creating a friendship group with the Iranian Parliament,
Iran's Embassy said in Brussels.

In a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari, Dewael
supported Tehran's initiative for establishing an Iranian-Belgian
Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Safari was in Belgium on a two-day visit for talks with European Union
officials and lawmakers.

He also invited the Belgian business community to invest in Iran.

Safari told Dewael that fostering closer bilateral ties between the
two capitals was the objective behind the initiative to establish the
parliamentary group.

He also pointed to the potential for expanding Iranian-Belgian ties in
all spheres, especially in the area of economy and investment.
