Davoudi underlines Iran-Turkey regional role
Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA ?
First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi said on Tuesday that relations
between the Middle East states will change after the Gaza event, so
the enhancement of Iran-Turkey ties is a need.
In a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Iran Salim Kara Osman Oglu,
Davoudi said Tehran-Ankara ties have witnessed an upward trend.
Referring to Iran and Turkey as two major regional powers enjoying
commonalities, Iran's first vice-president called for fostering mutual
cooperation that can play leading roles in the international and
regional arenas.
He added that Tehran and Ankara adopt common stands and have
potentials for boosting bilateral ties in all fields, particularly in
economic issues.
Appreciating Turkey's firm stance on the Gaza crisis, Davoudi said the
country takes decisive stands independently.
He said road maps and international mechanisms for management of
various countries in the Middle East and the whole world have now
reached deadlocks.
So, the present situation makes the civilized and independent
countries to play more active roles in the world affairs, he noted.
Meanwhile, the Turkish ambassador said his country is keen on
promoting the Tehran-Ankara ties to the highest level.
Osman Oglu added that Tehran-Ankara cooperation has accelerated during
the recent years thanks to the efforts made by officials of the two
countries who have paved the way for it.
