Dokic scores first-round Aussie Open win
Jelena Dokic won her first match at the Australian Open in 10 years on Monday, downing Austrian Tamira Paszek 6-2 3-6 6-4 in the opening round.
It was the first win by the 25-year-old at any grand slam tournament since she bowed
out in the second round of the 2003 US Open.
In the intervening years, Dokic had a number of fallouts with Australian tennis
officialdom.
But she has patched up the relationship and earned her place in the first grand slam
tournament of 2009 by winning last month's wildcard playoff.
