April Financial Summit to Discuss Sound Regulations: Aso
Tokyo, Jan. 19 (Jiji Press)--Sound financial industry regulations
are seen to be high on the agenda at the second emergency financial summit among developed and developing nations in London in April, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso said Monday.
At a House of Councillors Budget Committee meeting, Aso pointed out
that excessively lax regulations on financial institutions and their
products have caused a number of problems.
The upcoming summit is also expected to discuss international
cooperation on fiscal policies, and reforms of international financial
institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the
Asian Development Bank, Aso said.
The first emergency financial summit was held in Washington last
November, bringing together leaders from 20 advanced and emerging economies,
including Japan, the United States, Brazil, China and India.
