Assad warns West against "dictating" Syria's ties with Iran
Berlin, Jan 18, IRNA - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed his country would not sacrifice its traditionally very good relations with Iran to have better ties with the West, notably the US, the weekly Der Spiegel news magazine said in a report to be published Sunday.
He made clear improving in Syrian relations with the US should in no
way be linked to "dictating" Damascus what kind of ties to have with
Hamas, Hizbollah and Iran.
"Good relations with Washington should not mean bad relations with
Tehran," the Syrian leader said.
Assad has repeatedly warned the US and several other leading
European countries, including France and Germany, against attempts to
weaken the very strong Syrian-Iranian political front.
