Vietnam jump up 17 spots on FIFA rankings
Hanoi (VNA) - With their recent outstanding performance, the national football team of Vietnam climbed up 17 steps in the world rankings, announced the Federation of International Football Associations.
Vietnam rank 138th out of 201 teams worldwide. Meanwhile, in the Asian
Football Confederation's list, the team stood at 19th out of 46 teams.
The Southeast Asian champions were at third position among SEA regional teams and
expected to push upwards in next month's list after a 3-1 victory over Lebanon
in the Asian Cup 2011 qualifier on Jan. 14.
Thailand , despite losing in the Southeast Asia final were up two steps, to
rank 124th in the world, and still on top in the region.
Singapore rank second with Indonesia , Myanmar and the Philippines
