Minister chairs National Committee for Childhood meeting

Manama, July 20 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan today presided over the meeting of the National Committee for Childhood in the presence of the committee members. The meeting discussed latest developments relating to implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Childhood and the Kingdom's accomplishments in the area of children's health, education, protection, welfare, and development of children's capabilities and talents in compliance with principles of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. The meeting also reviewed the compilation of Bahrain's fourth and fifth UPR reports to be presented for discussion at the International Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva in September 2017. The minister directed to the essential efforts to follow up the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Childhood approved by the Cabinet and circulated to the ministries and state institutions for implementation. It is worth mentioning that the Government Action Plan 2015-2018 comprises of various programmes and events pertaining to the implementation of the National Plan for Childhood which reflects the persistent effors in implementation of the planned goals into practical realty with the aim of revitalization of childhood in the kingdom.
