Four houses go up in flames in WA fire

West Australian firefighters hope a forecast cooler change on Sunday will allow them to get on top of three fires still raging in different parts of the state.

A bushfire that's been burning out of control since Thursday near Bridgetown, in the
state's south-east, has so far destroyed four houses and 5800 hectares.
The Department of Environment and Conservation have also warned residents of
Greenbushes and Balingup to take precautions.
"The bushfire within this area is not contained and residents that have evacuated
are advised not to return to dwellings at this stage," DSE spokesman Nigel Higgs
said.
"People who have decided to stay and defend their home should prepare for the
bushfire."
He said residents should close all doors and windows and turn off evaporative
air-conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
Four fixed wing aircraft are waterbombing the fire while a reconnaissance helicopter
mapped its course as more than 120 firefighters battled the flames.
In Perth's inner west, a fire believed to have been deliberately lit has burnt 25
hectares at Kings Park while another fire at Yanchep National Park, north of Perth,
has blackened 7,000 hectares of bush.
Fire and Emergency Services Authority spokesman Rick Tyers says the two fires are
under control but a cooler change on Sunday along with predicted thunderstorms will
help.
"We're expecting thunderstorms and 31 degrees here tomorrow, so hopefully we can get
on top of it," Mr Tyers said.
