People’s solidarity thwarted Turkey’s coup attempt

Manama, July 16 (BNA): The coup attempt in Turkey was foiled by the Turkish people thanks to their unity and solidarity, the Turkish embassy in Bahrain said in a statement. “The situation that unfolded in Turkey was a coup attempt to overthrow the democratically elected government,” the statement issued on Saturday said. “This attempt was foiled by the Turkish people in unity and solidarity. Our President and Government are in charge.” The embassy said that not all the members of the Turkish Armed Forces were involved in the coup attempt. “It was conducted by a clique within the Armed Forces and it received a well-deserved response from our nation,” the statement said. Hatun Demirer is Turkey’s Ambassador to Bahrain and the kingdom is home to around 2,000 Turks.
