No case of locust emergence registered: Yemeni-Saudi team
SANA'A, Jan. 15 (Saba) - The Yemeni-Saudi survey field team to
control and combat locusts affirmed Thursday that initial results
have not registered any cases of locust emergence.
The National Center for Controlling and Combating Locusts' director
Abdu al-Rumaih told the state-run 26sep that the locusts condition
in the two countries' areas is stable and quiet.
The joint field team has carried out a preventive survey in the
locust breeding areas on the border of the two countries since
January 3rd, making clear that indicators of the emergence of
locusts during this season are very low.
Al-Rumaih said that the joint field survey, which is implemented
yearly in the locust breeding winter areas, is the sixth and will
conclude its activity on Friday, noting that the team will then
submit a report to the concerned ministries in both countries.
