President discusses Israeli aggression in Gaza with Saudi king
SANA'A, Jan. 14 (Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Wednesday a phone
call from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz over
current developments in Gaza Strip.
In the phone, the two leaders discussed Israeli wild aggression and genocide against
Palestinians in the strip, which disagree with all human and moral principles.
They also discussed coordination of Arab position to serve Arab solidarity and fair
right of the Palestinian people.

SANA'A, Jan. 14 (Saba)-President Ali Abdullah Saleh asked on Wednesday United Stated
and European Union countries to intervene to stop Israeli offensive in Gaza.
In a meeting brought together US ambassador and European diplomats in Yemen,
president Saleh asked these countries to intervene to stop the offensive, end the
siege, open border crossings, withdraw of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza Strip
, bring Israeli leaders to the International Criminal Court for their crimes in the
strip.
He also asked these countries to stop exporting weapons to Israeli. These demands
were asked by the Arab and Islamic nation as well as who have alive conscience in
the world, president said.
He said that the Arab and Islamic world expects a US and European stance which fits
with their calls for respecting human rights and combating terror as what is going
on now in Gaza is a state terror against Palestinians.
President Saleh expressed sadness for applying double standard in implementing
international resolution associated with Israel.
He also wondered about statements that Israeli genocide against Palestinians people
is "self-defense", saying what about right of the Palestine in self defense.

Yemen to take part in emergency summit in Doha
SANA'A, Jan. 14 (Saba)- Yemen announced that it would participate in an emergency
Arab summit on Gaza attacks to be hosted by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa
al-Thani, a source of Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
Speaking to Saba, the source said that Yemen had accepted an invitation of Qatar's
Emir al-Thani to hold an emergency meeting of Arab leaders in the Qatari capital
Doha accordance with the Charter of the Arab League.
"Yemen continues exerting efforts and contacts with many Arab and Palestinian
parties to work to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, lifting the siege
and reopening the border crossings between Egypt and Gaza", added the source.
"Yemen's leadership has confirmed the importance of efforts to heal the rift between
the two Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah in order to achieve the reconciliation
among all Palestinian factions for serving the interests of the Palestinian people
and establishing a Palestinian state with al-Quds its capital".
The source expressed hope that the upcoming summit would reinforce the Arab stand in
face of Israeli aggression and create greater solidarity to defend the Palestinian

Yemen, US discuss security cooperation
SANA'A, Jan.14 (Saba)- Yemen and the US discussed on Wednesday the aspects of
security coordination between the two sides and ways of reinforcing them
particularly in the areas of combating terrorism.
During their meeting in Sana'a, Interior Minister Mutahar al-Masri and a US military
delegation headed by the commander of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT)
who is visiting Yemen talked on the two countries' efforts in the war on terrorism.
The US official praised the latest security achievements of Yemen particularly in
fight against terrorism and organized crime.

Yemen calls for more support to Somali refugees
TAIZ, Jan.14 (Saba)- The governor of Tize province Hamoud Assoufi and deputy
Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Nabeel Othman have
held here a meeting to discuss the situation of Somali refugees in the province.
Assoufi and Othman also reviewed the difficulties the governorate face in field of
providing support to the Somali refugees as well as the possibility to prepare a
report on the situation and needs of the Somali refugees in Taiz.
Affirming the necessity of dealing with the problems of the Somalis living in the
country, Assoufi highlighted that UNHCR efforts to help Yemen to address the
challenges of receiving the Somali refugees and support security forces guard the
Karaz refugees camp.
"Yemen faces several challenges through the increasing of the number of refugees and
scanty of the country's resources," Assoufi said, calling for more support from
international community to assist the refugees.
Nearly 140000 Somali refugees have been registered by UNHCR in Yemen while a huge
number are hiding among the community.

confirmed on Wednesday stance of Yemen, which supports resistance of the

The discussion targeted a number of scholars, preachers and universities' students
in order to spread awareness among people as well as to push women for the political
participation by getting more seats in the Parliament in the forthcoming
parliamentary elections.
In the discussion, undersecretary of Taiz governor Abdul-Wahab al-Junayd referred to
the status of Yemeni women and their legislation and constitution rights in the
country according to the Islamic law, affirming their citizenship rights and equal
political participation and noted the important role of the scholars and preachers
interaction to push for supporting women during the process of elections.
For her part, the NCW director Noria Shojah al-Din reviewed the activities of the
NCW and the implemented events to ensure women rights in various levels.
