Vietnam requests an end to violence in Gaza Strip

New York (VNA) - A Vietnamese diplomat has called upon the concerned parties to
immediately stop violence and implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The Representative of Vietnam to the UN Security Council, Ambassador Le Luong Minh,
made the request at the council's Jan. 13 urgent consultation to hear UN Secretary
General Ban Ki-moon's report before his departure to the Middle East to seek ways to
put an end to the current conflict at Gaza .

Minh also urged for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza , ending of rocket
attacks onto Israel 's territory and opening up of all border gates to facilitate
humanitarian aid for the Palestinians.

The ambassador stressed the concerned parties should respect and carry out the
UNSC's Resolution 1860, and affirmed support for the concerted efforts of the
Secretary General and the international community for these pressing
