Mohammed bin Zayed, Nazif hold talks
Cairo, Jan 15, 2009 (WAM) - General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces held a round of talks in Cairo last night with Egyptian Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Nazif in presence of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
Attending from the Egyptian side were Dr Mahmoud Muhei El Din, Minister of Investment, Omer Sulaiman, Chief of the Egyptian Intelligence and other officials.
The talks cantered on the current redevelopments in Gaza strip and serious ramifications of the Israeli heinous aggression on the people of the strip. Also discussed were the efforts being made by Egypt and the UAE to stop the aggression that left about 1,000 martyrs and over 4,000 injured.
The two sides reviewed the international efforts, particularly the initiative launched by President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak of Egypt which calls for immediate ceasefire and for providing secure routes for entry of humanitarian relief materials into Gaza.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the initiative, describing it as a "prompt solution to stop the bloodshed in Gaza." The two sides stressed the importance of pooling efforts aimed stopping the Israeli attacks as a first step that paves the way for a solution based on negotiations.
The meeting also touched on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Dr Nazif praised the strong ties between the two countries and referred to the great support given by the UAE to Egypt in development arenas. He said the UAE was ranked as one of the largest investors in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court and Ahmed Ali Nasser Al Mail Al Za'abi, UAE's Ambassador to Egypt.
