FNC takes part in extraordinary meeting of Muslim Parliaments in Turkey
Istanbul, Jan 15, 2009 (WAM) - The Speaker of Turkish Parliament Koksal Toptan, said the extraordinary meeting of the Muslim Parliament Federation of the Organisation of Islamic Countries to discuss situation in Gaza strip was held yesterday here at Hilton Hotel. The meeting focused on the Gaza tragedy caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression.
He called in an inaugural speech for Arab and Islamic unity, stressing the stance of Turkey towards the Palestinian issue in general and Gaza strip in particular.
Algerian Speaker and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Muslim Parliament Federation Abdul Aziz Zairi, noted that the international organisations exercise double standard when it comes to Gaza strip and the Middle East, adding that the international community should be reminded that the situation is serious in Gaza as Israel declines the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council resolutions on Palestine.
The meeting was attended by the Federal National Council (FNC) under chairmanship of Ahmed Shabib Al Dhahiri, deputy chairman of the FNC and Eisa Al Kalbani, UAE Consul General in Turkey.
