NCW organizes panel discussion on adopting pro-quota system
TAIZ, Jan.14 (Saba) - The National Commission for Women (NCW)
organized on Wednesday a panel discussion on adopting the pro-quota
system "quota" in Taiz governorate.
The discussion targeted a number of scholars, preachers and
universities' students in order to spread awareness among people as
well as to push women for the political participation by getting
more seats in the Parliament in the forthcoming parliamentary
elections.
In the discussion, undersecretary of Taiz governor Abdul-Wahab
al-Junayd referred to the status of Yemeni women and their
legislation and constitution rights in the country according to the
Islamic law, affirming their citizenship rights and equal political
participation and noted the important role of the scholars and
preachers interaction to push for supporting women during the
process of elections.
For her part, the NCW director Noria Shojah al-Din reviewed the
activities of the NCW and the implemented events to ensure women
rights in various levels.
