Emirates boosts Middle East network
Dubai, Jan 14, 2009 (WAM) - Emirates Airline will strengthen its Middle East route network with additional flights to Amman, Riyadh and Jeddah starting February 2009. These additions follow the airline's recent increase of services to Damascus in December, from nine flights a week to 11.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Senior Vice President Commercial Operations - Gulf, Middle East '&' Iran, said:: "The Dubai-based airline's presence in the Middle East has been on a consistent fast-track ever since the airline launched global operations in 1985.
Emirates flew to its first Middle East gateway in 1986 when it launched operations to Amman. Today, Emirates serves 14 cities in the Middle East with nearly 180 flights per week, offering the best connectivity in the region," In the first week of February, Emirates will add flights to three cities in the region - one additional flight to Riyadh, two additional flights to Amman, and one additional flight to Jeddah. These new services will enable greater access and facilitate traffic flows between Middle East and key markets in Europe, Africa, Indian Sub Continent, Far East and Australian points.
"Customer demand for our services has been steadily building up and we are very pleased to enhance our presence in Middle East by adding flights to Damascus, Amman, Riyadh and Jeddah. The Middle East region is at the centre of our global network, and demand for our services has remained strong. We are grateful for the support from our customers and look forward to further developing our operations to serve their needs." Adnan noted.
From 2nd February, Emirates will add two more flights per week between Dubai and Amman on Tuesdays and Fridays, bringing its weekly service to Jordan to 12.
These new flights increase connection options for Emirates customers, particularly those travelling to or from the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.
On its Dubai-Amman route, Emirates operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft in a three-class configuration.
On 1st February, Emirates' Dubai-Riyadh service will increase from six-a-week to become daily. On 3rd February, Emirates' Dubai-Jeddah service will also increase to daily flights from the current six-a-week service.
These new flights will facilitate travellers connecting to/from cities in South Africa, the Indian Sub Continent, the Far East and Australian points.
Together with Emirates' five times-a-week flights to Dammam, these latest increases will bring the airline's total number of services to Saudi Arabia from 17 to 19 per week. On its Dubai-Damman route, Emirates operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
On 3rd December, Emirates introduced two additional services to Damascus on Wednesdays and Thursdays, bringing its total flights between Dubai-Damascus to 11 per week. These new flights increase connection choices for Syrian travellers heading to the UAE and popular destinations in the Far East including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and China. On its Dubai-Damascus route, Emirates operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft in a three-class configuration.
