Government approves Yemen's joining to 1999 ozone monitorial protocol

SANA'A, Jan. 13 (Saba)-The cabinet approved in its weekly meeting
hled on Tuesday a treaty on Yemen's joining to Beijing 1999
monitorial protocol for ozone-depleting substances.

The cabinet directed completing measures required for final
approval of Yemen's joining to this treaty. This affirms Yemen's
commitments to international treaties and its cooperation with the
international community for preserving living on the planet.

Yemen's joining to the treaty would enable it to import what it
needs of substances expose to international control during the
treaty's period extends to 2030. Freon 22 substance, which Yemen use
great quantities of it, is among these substances.

The cabinet also referred draft decision for establishing the
national committee for food constitution or Codes National Committee
presented by minister of industry and trade and memo from minister
of fishery wealth over situations of fishery services to Economic
Council for studying.

The food committee aims at organizing system of controlling foods in
Yemen and defining responsibilities and duties of every monitorial
body in the system of food monitoring. The committee also aims at
building capabilities in this system and updating pending food
legislations.
