Lee to meet ruling party leadership

SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak will meet the leadership of
the ruling Grand National Party (GNP) later this month in an apparent bid to seek
support for his efforts to revive the sagging economy, a GNP official said
Tuesday.

"President Lee has invited the 22-member leadership of our party to a luncheon
meeting at the presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae, on Jan. 30," the official,
requesting anonymity, told Yonhap News Agency over the phone.
Later in the day, a Cheong Wa Dae official confirmed the meeting.
At the proposed meeting, Lee is expected to detail his policies for reactivating
the economy and call for the ruling party's efforts to quickly pass pending
economic bills at the National Assembly, including those involving new media and
a Korea-U.S. free trade agreement, the official said.
