Parliament adopts resolution to mark Obama's inauguration
SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's parliament adopted a resolution on
Tuesday congratulating Barack Obama on his upcoming inauguration as president of
the United States.
"The South Korean National Assembly, on behalf of the Korean people,
congratulates Obama's Jan. 20 inauguration and wish him success," the resolution,
adopted at a plenary session, said.
The resolution expressed hope for the further development of the South Korea-U.S.
alliance based on democracy, the market economy and human rights during Obama's
presidency.
The resolution was initiated by Rep. Chung Jin-seok of the ruling Grand National
Party.
