Harry apologises over comments: report

(AAP) - Prince Harry has personally apologised to a young soldier he called "Paki" in a home-made video.

The 24-year-old prince is believed to have telephoned Captain Ahmed Raza Khan in
Pakistan and said he was sorry for the comments he made in a video of his British
army mates three years ago.
The prince's comments sparked a storm of controversy after the video was released by
a British newspaper last Sunday.
A source close to Harry told The Sun newspaper the prince phoned Khan after a mutual
friend helped put them in touch.
Khan is understood to have told Harry there were no hard feelings over the video,
the newspaper said.
"Since the footage came to light, Harry's main concern has been that he may have
offended a friend," the unnamed source said.
"The mutual friend had already spoken to both Harry and Captain Kahn when the row
erupted.
"It was this mutual friend who helped the two of them to get back in touch."
Harry was just 21 when he filmed a group of his fellow trainee soldiers, including
Khan, while they waited to board a flight to Cyprus in 2006.
The prince is heard to say on the video: "Ah, our little Paki friend, Ahmed."
He has apologised publicly for the comments and is expected to receive a major
dressing down from his commanding officer later this week.
Meanwhile, the British army has launched an investigation into how the video was
leaked to the News of the World tabloid.
