Vertical Industries in Abu Dhabi experience high-speed data communications with ThurayaIP
Abu Dhabi, Jan 13, 2009 (WAM) - Several officials and representatives from the media, government and oil and gas sectors in Abu Dhabi participated in a Corporate Day organised by Thuraya this morning to demonstrate the capabilities and features of its latest powerful high-speed data communication service "ThurayaIP". Hosted at the Le Royal Meridian Hotel, the event has been part of an international campaign to introduce the new competitive solution to vertical industries which need reliable, practical and cost-effective data communications, especially in remote areas.
The Corporate Day was kicked off by Thuraya's CEO Mr. Yousuf Al Sayed, in the presence of some Company officials and Thuraya Service Providers and technology partners.
Presentations and live demos were later made by Mr. Dominique Audion, Managing Director of IEC/SAFA Telecom, one of Thuraya's SPs, Mr. Ken Herron, Sales Director of Quicklink, a UK based application developer, who gave a live demonstration of a Thuraya-based enhanced media solution, Mr. Rashid Baba, Group Product Manager at Thuraya and other speakers.
The applications focused upon during the Corporate Day included "Quicklink" for the high-speed delivery of broadcast video, "Netted Communications" for group and emergency calling, fixed and mobile data communications, "Encryption" for security and defense communications.
Yousuf Al Sayed said during the opening remarks that Thuraya has been organising these "Corporate Days" to get much closer to its customers and listen to their needs and views consistently.
"ThurayaIP is one of such innovations that we believe will have a significant value for large international organisations, whether in defense, media, oil and gas, NGOs or government institutions, in providing efficient, fast and cost-effective internet and data communications," said Mr Al Sayed.
Al Sayed explained that since its launch last year, ThurayaIP has fascinated a lot of market segments because of its compact A-5 sized and advanced features, especially its video-streaming capability at the speed of 384 kbps, which is like no other in the market.
"One additional advantage of the ThurayaIP service is that it comes in various service packages - Limited and Unlimited - which can flexibly suit the actual and economical needs of our customers," said Mr Al Sayed.
Thuraya is planning other similar Corporate Days this month in Algeria, Paris and London.
