Dubai Cares begins the "Volunteer for the Children of Gaza" initiative
Dubai, Jan 12, 2009 (WAM) - Dubai Cares, the Dubai-based charity organisation, as part of a united front with other partner organisations announced that starting this Wednesday, January 14 through Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, residents are invited to come and volunteer at DIFC's Emperor Hall to assemble 50,000 school kits and 50,000 hygiene kits as part of a community effort to mobilise emergency aid for Gaza.
Dubai Cares has already procured all of the supplies and materials necessary for the creation of 100,000 care kits and is calling on UAE residents to help pack and prepare them for immediate shipping to the children of Gaza.
H.E. Reem Al Hashimy, Chairperson of the Dubai Cares Board of Directors, said: "UAE residents have always embraced our calls to action. This opportunity to volunteer gives everyone a chance to join hands and proactively respond to the urgent situation in Gaza. We hope that this modest initiative will at the very least, involve the whole community to come together to help children in Gaza in an immediate way."
DIFC has taken the leadership in offering Dubai Cares a sizable venue for duration of one week to help accommodate this initiative and all corporations in the UAE are invited to take part in this noble cause.
Al Hashimy: "We thank the generous contribution of DIFC and we ask all of the corporations, institutions and residents in the UAE to participate in this initiative by encouraging their staff to volunteer to help us meet this ambitious goal for the sake of the children of Gaza."
Dubai Cares is the world's largest charitable establishment solely devoted to improving primary education for underprivileged children. Its emergency interventions - which to date include interventions in Chad, Myanmar Ethiopia - stems from its philosophy that guaranteeing the continuity of children's education is as important as ensuring their physical well being.
