HM King receives AFC President

Manama, March 28 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received today President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Vice President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) on the Asian continent Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa who extended to him thanks and gratitude for supporting him during the recent FIFA elections. HM the King thanked him for his efforts to boost Bahrain's standing and uphold its image at regional and international gatherings. He also praised Shaikh Salman's participation and honourable result in FIFA elections which reflects confidence of the international federations in Bahrain's ability to lead world football to more achievements and development. He paid tribute to Shaikh Salman for representing Bahrain and gaining respect of countries from all over the world in the international event. HM the King said Shaikh Salman's participation in FIFA elections helped promote Bahrain worldwide, project its achievements mainly in the sport and youth field and highlight capability of the Bahraini people to take up leading continental and international posts. He also commended Shaikh Salman's achievements at the local, Asian and international level which qualify him to take up any international sport post. HM King Hamad took pride in Bahraini people who are assuming leading posts competently and showing keenness to bolster Bahrain's role and standing in regional and international events. He wished Shaikh Salman continuous success in serving Asia football. Shaikh Salman expressed profound gratitude to HM the King for his unflinching support to the Bahraini people in representing the kingdom in various regional and global sporting events. He also praised the valuable royal directives and keenness to boost the Bahraini people's resolve to continue promoting the kingdom's status on the international map.
