Hamdan Bin Zayed calls for emergency int'l meeting in Abu Dhabi for Gaza
Abu Dhabi, Jan 11, 2009 (WAM) - H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of Red Crescent Authority (RCA) and Chairman of the Foreign Aid Coordination Committee today called for an emergency meeting of donating countries and international relief and humanitarian organizations to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza Strip and determine the needs and priorities to help out Palestinians in Gaza as well as to make clear the barriers to delivering relief dispatches to Gaza.
The meeting will be held in Abu Dhabi on Monday, January 12th, 2009 at Intercontinental Hotel and will be chaired by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed Anwar Gergash.
Sheikh Hamdan expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He called on countries and organizations to shoulder their responsibilities in alleviating the suffering Palestinians in Gaza.
The call for an emergency meeting for Gaza comes as part of efforts by the United Arab Emirates to mobilize international support for Palestinians in Gaza.
