YSMQCO approves new strategic cope with accession to GCCSO
SANA'A, Jan. 09 (Saba) - The Yemen Standardization, Metrology and
Quality Control Organization (YSMQCO) has approved a new strategic
plane for 2009 to cope with its accession to the Gulf Cooperation
Council Standardization Organization (GCCSO).
The plan ratified during the YSMQCO meetings held on January 6 - 7
includes improving the organization's performance through upgrading
its institutional construction and contributing to conserving health
and safety of society and environment as well as supporting the
national economy and developing its potentials.
The plan's goals comprise supporting the planes of economic
development and national industries via assuring local product's
standards meet with the international ones to enhance its
competition capabilities in the local and international markets. The
plane also aims to strengthen the abilities of exporters of local
agricultural and industrial products through providing them with the
necessary information about the standardizations and bounden
provisions on examining goods and materials in different countries.
Regarding the legal, organizational and administrative aspects, the
plan included a study on revising the previous laws and updating
some of the administrative, financial and technical rules in
accordance with the international and Gulf rules.
The YSMQCO plane required carrying out the commitments provided to
the YSMQCO's joining to the GCCSO including the implementation of
the agreed action plan and the participation effectively in GCCSO's
activities and meetings after the accession's procedures finalized.
The organization stressed that updating its bylaws, specifications
and technical rules should be in accordance with the agreement of
joining to the World Trade Organization as well.
