Seoul stocks open higher on foreign buying
SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened higher Friday, boosted by
aggressive foreign buying, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 8.43 points, or 0.7
percent, to 1,214.13 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Leading shipyards and major financial holding companies opened sharply higher as
foreign investors scooped up large-cap shares. Foreigners have been net buyers
for six sessions in the last seven days.
The local currency was trading at 1,324.95 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., up 9.55 won from Thursday's close.
