Bahrain, German cultural cooperation discussed

Manama, Feb. 8 (BNA): Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa received Alfred Simms-Protz and discussed joint cooperation. She highlighted strong bilateral relations binding the two countries, stressing Bahrain's keenness on opening up on peoples and civilisations, underlining the BACA-led "Your Destination Bahrain" programme, which aims at projecting the Kingdom's cultural credentials. She announced that a group of BACA staff would travel to German so as to get trained on latest cultural and tourism guiding trends, as part of a programme supported by the German Embassy in Bahrain. BACA and the embassy are also coordinating to add the German language to the list of languages being used to present Bahrain's cultural monuments. Simms-Protz presented to BACA President an artwork by German artist Lara Daskalou whose works were showcased last November at the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in Manama.
