S. Korea`s auto production falls 6.4 pct in 2008
SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's production of cars, trucks and buses
declined 6.4 percent last year from a year earlier, as the global economic
downturn and fragile domestic consumption weakened demand for new vehicles,
producers said Wednesday.
Production fell to 3,826,682 units in 2008, the first annual decline in seven
years, the Korea Automobile Manufacturers' Association said.
Last year, domestic sales fell 5.3 percent to 1,154,392 units and exports
declined 5.7 percent to 2,685,096 units, the association said.
