U.S. Army offers rare collection of Korean War image online

SEOUL, Jan. 7 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. Army has posted a rare collection of photos and videos from the Korean War on the Internet, offering an extensive look at a conflict that razed the peninsula nearly six decades ago.

The archives, released by the Installation Management Command Korea, include some
40 videos and 150 still photos captured by military cameramen and photographers,
and chronicle the conflict that left millions of soldiers and civilians dead on
both sides.
Posted on YouTube and photo-sharing site Flickr, the images retrieved from the
Pentagon are in black and white except one video clip in color, and show the
faces of the war through refugees, battles, ravaged cities, truce talks, wounded
soldiers, air strikes, and tanks and heavy artillery in action.
The U.S. fought on the South Korean side and has about 28,500 troops stationed
here as a legacy of the 1950-53 conflict that ended in a truce rather than a
peace treaty.
