HRH Premier receives Sri Lankan ambassador

Manama, Jan. 10 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the newly-appointed Sri Lankan Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Dr. A. S. U. Mendis. HRH Premier welcomed the new envoy, and lauded bilateral relations, progressing steadily thanks to the leaderships' keenness on constantly bolstering them for the best interests of two friendly peoples. The Prime Minister wished the new ambassador every success in assuming his diplomatic duties and enhancing bilateral ties at all levels. Ambassador Dr. Dr. A. S. U. Mendis conveyed to HRH the Prime Minister greetings and appreciation from the Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, and his good wishes to the government of Bahrain, and of further progress and prosperity to the Bahraini people. He said that bilateral relations have been growing steadily since the historic visit of HRH Premier to Sri Lanka in 2009, noting that the visit strengthened joint cooperation and friendship and opened up new horizons of fruitful cooperation. He voiced pride in HRH Premier's keenness on consolidating bilateral relations, stressing that his country is looking forward to bolstering cooperation ties with Bahrain, in line with the directives of the two countries' leaderships to take advantage of the existing outstanding political and economic relations to boost ties further.
