National Telecommunications Plan to be announced after Cabinet approval

Manama, Jan. 4 (BNA): Transportation and Telecommunications Minister, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohamed, said the fourth National Telecommunications Plan will be announced within next few weeks after Cabinet approval. Speaking to the press on the side-lines of his patronage of the MEET ICT, BITEX Expo, the minister said the fourth National Telecommunications Plan will include specific solid targets which will boost the Kingdom's position in global categorisations. He said one of the key goals of the plan is to launch the Kingdom's national broadband network accessible in every commercial house and establishment all of which connected at high speed within one network which will help everyone to use any application or programme at highest level and quality. He said Bahrain long time ago realized the importance of ICT sector in development of the community and the national economy. He outlined Bahrain's visualisation for the sector to be a smart kingdom that provides sustainable development for citizens, domesticates technology and boosts the concept of knowledge-based economy.
