Foreign Minister: Turkish Troops Withdrawal Is A Step In The Right Direction

Baghdad / NINA/ Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territory is a step in the right direction. Jaafari said in a press statement that "what was stated in the media on the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraqi territory is a step in the right direction to respect Iraq's sovereignty, and we are involved in our steps in the Security Council in order to achieve the full withdrawal of Turkish forces from our lands." The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced today that the Turkish forces are continuing the withdrawal from a camp near Mosul in northern Iraq. Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a press statement: "Turkey will continue to withdraw its troops stationed at Camp Ba'shiqah in Nineveh province in northern Iraq, which is about to up to 300 soldiers, as well as 20 armored vehicles." The Iraqi-Turkish relations witnessed a crisis because of the entry of Turkish forces equipped with tanks and armored vehicles, inside Iraqi territory and spread near Mosul. Turkey withdrew on Monday part of its military forces from camp Ba'shiqah near Mosul towards other areas of northern Iraq. / End
