Bahrain chairs Arab meeting
Cairo, Dec.13 (BNA): The Arab social ministers today convened for their 35th session in Sharm el-Sheikh resort in Egypt. The delegations chose Bahrain to chair the two-day meeting in recognition of its achievements in the Arab and international arenas.
Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan presided over the pan-Arab meeting which addresses key issues. Head of Bahrain's delegation to the meeting, the minister hailed the Arab recognition of Kingdom's success in achieving sustainable development goals.
In a statement on the sidelines of the pan-Arab meeting, he stressed Bahrain's social development strides under the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. Addressing the session, he stressed the importance of the social and economic issues on the agenda of the two-day conference which concludes tomorrow.
He highlighted particularly the forthcoming conference which will be held in January in Bahrain under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. The meeting will be on the level of ministers and will focus on the implementation of the 2030 sustainable development agenda in Arab countries.
The "Bahrain Declaration" will then be on the agenda of the Arab Summit, which will be held in March in Morocco. The delegations commended Bahrain for hosting the pan-Arab ministerial meeting next month, paying tribute to HRH the Premier for his patronage and keenness on sustainable development in the Arab World.
