Women's participation in government positions highlighted

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has received senior invitees, session moderators and foreign speakers participating in the three-day international conference themed "Women in Public Life: From Policies to Impact", being hosted by Bahrain. Wife of HM the King expressed appreciation of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)'s confidence in the SCW of Bahrain to host the event with the aim of the exchange of expertise to serve the empowerment and integration of Bahraini women in public life. She said that the conference assists in enhancing Bahrain's standing as a regional leader in areas of supporting and empowering Bahraini women. She pointed out the outstanding results achieved with regard to women's participation in high government positions, according to the OECD report. The audience lauded Bahrain's commendable efforts in the promotion and empowerment of Bahraini women. They said that the conference is an added value to Bahrain's record of hosting key international activities that contribute to boosting women's supportive policies.
