Party central committee convenes ninth meeting
Hanoi (VNA) - The 9 th meeting of the 10 th Party Central Committee opened in
Hanoi on Jan 5, scheduled to review the implementation of the 10 th Prty Congress's
Resolution in 2006-2008, the first half of the term, and the Central Committee'
resolutions on fighting corruption and wastefulness and on personnel strategy.
Assessing the country's great achievements in implementing the targets and
orientations defined at the 10 th Party Congress over the past three years, Party
General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said the whole Party and the entire people and
army dynamically seized opportunities to overcome challenges and strive their best
to implement the 10 th Party Congress's Resolution and gained many positive
achievements.
Particular attention has been paid to Party building and strengthening Party
leadership the strength of the great national unity has been continually promoted
and the renewal process has been accelerated in all areas, the Party leader said.
Many targets set by the 10 th Party Congress Resolution have been already or
nearly obtained, the Party leader said, adding, however, that the country still
faced difficulties in socio-economic development, including limitations and
weaknesses in some areas.
Manh urged the meeting, in an objective manner, to look at the situation to assess
the implementation of the 10 th Party Resolution in the first half of its term.
He called for intensive study to resolve outstanding matters, such as the
relations between growth and development quality, rapid growth and sustainable
development, economic development and social welfare and equality, economic
renewal and renovation of the political system, renewal and stability, and the
self-reliance and global economic integration.
The lessons learned from realities are not only significant to the remaining half
of the term but also necessary for the Party in deciding orientations for the
national renewal process and development in the future, the leader said.
He asked members of the Party Central Committees to be responsible, focus
intelligence and uphold the spirit of democracy, creativeness, and strict
criticism and self-criticism in their work.
The meeting will run until Jan. 14.-Enditem
