HM King Hamad receives GCC Secretary General

Manama, Dec. 2 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace today GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on the occasion of his visit to Bahrain as part of a regional tour. The GCC Secretary General briefed HM the King on the ongoing preparations for the 36th GCC Summit, which is set to be held in Saudi Arabia this month, as well as the main issues on its agenda. HM the King wished the summit every success in coming up with resolutions that meet the aspirations of the GCC people for more unity and integration out of the common goal and destiny binding them all. He said the prospective meeting of the GCC Supreme Council will convene amid grave regional challenges which require massive efforts to protect hard-won gains. HM King Hamad commended the pioneering role of Saudi Arabia in cementing fraternal relations between the GCC countries, rallying ranks and preserving the GCC national and civilisational gains. He also lauded the efforts of the GCC Secretary General, his assistants and all the Secretariat General personnel in supporting the GCC march and enhancing cooperation between the member states. The GCC Secretary General said in a statement that he had briefed HM the King about the agenda of the 36th GCC Summit which is slated to be held in Riyadh on December 9 and 10 under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. He expressed gratitude to HM the King for his valuable directives to further promote the GCC march and maximize achievements.
