Conference on quality education kicks off

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): The 2nd academic conference on quality education kicked off today at the Gulf Hotel under the aegis of Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi. The event, held under the theme "Towards Differentiated Education", brought together 200 participants from 14 countries including teachers, school leaders, researchers and educationists.
Education Ministry Undersecretary for Education and Curricula Affairs Dr. Abdullah Yussef Al-Mutawa underlined the need for teachers to take into consideration individual differences between students to ensure success of the educational process. He was speaking as he opened today the conference which aims to shed light on cutting-edge strategies in differentiated learning. He underscored the need to keep teachers abreast of the latest teaching methods in this respect to enable them to diversify techniques that suit all students in the classroom.
On his part, Head of the conference's High Preparatory Committee Dr. Yussef Al-Bessam pointed out the importance of the conference in highlighting academic theories on differentiated education and their role in catering for the needs of all students.
Meanwhile, Dr. Badr Al-Bessam explained in a speech given on behalf of all the participants how contemporary global trends in tackling individual differences are diverse. Yet, the "Multiple Intelligence" theory, he said, stands out in terms of effective and collective learning.
