Rainfall safety instructions released

Manama, Nov.24 (BNA): As part of the ongoing operations to reinforce general safety among the public, the General Directorate of Civil Defence and General Directorate of Traffic have issued safety instructions during the rain and unstable weather. The civil defence advices the public during heavy rain to move necessary tools to the first floor and disconnect electricity. It is also important to not use wet electrical appliances or touch hanging electricity wires. In case of driving, the civil defence calls upon drivers to stay away from low and water gathering areas. It is important to avoid driving on areas with deep rainwater unless the driver is aware of the depth of the water. Driver should also avoid driving at night in areas with insufficient light and call 999 for any emergency. Meanwhile the traffic department urged drivers to increase the safety distance between vehicles during the rain to reduce the risk of accident during sudden stop. The department also called upon drivers to check the rear wipers and tyres of their cars to ensure they are in good condition.
