BACA president receives Kuwaiti delegation

Manama, Nov. 22 (BNA): President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received at the Bahrain National Museum today a delegation from the Women's Campaign International Committee in Kuwait, cuurently on a visit to the kingdom to collect first-hand information about Bahrain's rich heritage, as well as the Bahraini women's activities in various fields. Shaikha Mai expressed delight at the delegation's visit to the Bahrain National Museum, stressing that Bahrain boast a unique civilisational, historical and human heritage and history in the region, pointing out that culture is a means to extend bridges between civilisations. She added that Bahrain welcomes all its visitors and is keen to make them enjoy the best cultural and human experiences. Members of the delegation lauded the kingdom's old human heritage and modern civilisational projects, noting that their visit to the Bahrain National Museum enabled them to learn a lot about Bahrain's rich history and culture. The delegation also visited Qalat (Fort) Bu-Maher's Information Centre through a sea journey from the Bahrain National Museum to the Fort's beach in Muharraq. They saw the miniature model of the Pearl Route and were informed about its houses, as well as architectural and cultural features . BACA is trying to complete the project by 2018, a year in which Muharraq will be the capital of Islamic Culture. The delegation also visited the National Theatre which was built as per the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the first supporter of culture in the kingdom.
