EC allocates €500,000 for Somali, Ethiopian refugees
SANA'A, Jan. 04 (Saba) - The European Commission (EC) has allocated
€500,000 as a humanitarian assistance for Somali and Ethiopian
refugees in Yemen.
The commission said in a press release, Saba got a copy, that the
amount is appropriated for supporting efforts exerted to improve the
refuges' conditions of livelihood after increasing the number of
refugees arrived in the Yemeni coastline to 48,000 till December 18,
2008.
The European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) in Yemen will
allocate the amount to support the humanitarian projects to improve
the condition of the refugees in the sheltering camps, according to
the press release.
It is noteworthy that the European Commission allocated € 800,000 in
2007 to support the Somali refugees.
