Oil ministry to prepare strategy to develop oil, gas and minerals

SANA'A, Jan. 04 (Saba)-Ministry of Oil and Materials formed on
Sunday a technical committee of senior officials and advisors to
prepare a strategy for oil, gas and mineral sector in the country.

In a meeting, brought together directors of the units in the
ministry and oil companies of the ministry, the Minister
of Oil and Minerals Amir al-Aidaros affirmed importance of preparing
such strategy to enhance this key sector, pointing out to the
promising future for the gas in the country.

Such strategy enables the ministry for first time to work within
long term strategy and clear visions to achieve fruitful outcomes in
the ground, the minister said.

He added that the coming period would witness progress in field of
oil and minerals.The minister also made it clear that 2009 would
witness use of gas coming out in process of exploring oil in block
No. 10 to generate electricity at capacity of 20 MGW as first stage.
