AGU marks World Diabetes Day

Manama, Nov. 13 (BNA): World Diabetes Day (WDD) will be celebrated in Bahrain tomorrow with an awareness campaign, launched by the medical students at Arabian Gulf University (AGU). The Organising Committee Member Saeed bin Jabal said that the campaign will be themed "Life is short ... stay healthy, exercise and fight diabetes." He pointed out that the campaign will distribute brochures explaining the causes of diabetes, potential implications for patients and ways to adapt to the disease through lifestyle changes by following a balanced diet and sports. The campaign offers the visitors an initial examination of blood sugar and measurement of the blood pressure and body mass, which gives an indication about the likelihood of diabetes. The Organising Committee Member Saeed bin Jabal expressed thanks to the Department of Student Welfare, headed by Shaikha Mona Al-Khalifa for the support of this event and the Specialist in Endocrinology at Salmaniya Medical Complex Dr. Hussein Taha.
