Two terror suspects sentenced to ten years in prison

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Advocate General and Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution, Ahmed Al-Hammadi, today announced that two individuals have been convicted of terror-related offences and sentenced to ten years in prison. The Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution also confirmed that the individuals’ citizenship has been revoked due to the seriousness of the offences. The defendants were convicted of receiving and facilitating explosives and firearms training in Iraq. The first suspect was found guilty of travelling to Iraq last year to attend terrorist training camps, with the intention of carrying out attacks within Bahrain upon his return. The second suspect was found guilty of facilitating travel, providing funds, and liaising with members of the terrorist group within Iraq. The Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution noted that both individuals have the right to appeal the court’s verdict and were afforded full legal rights throughout the trial process.
